Find and close all open paths in your document automatically.

About This Script

Scans every path in the document and closes any open paths by connecting the first and last anchor points with a straight line segment. The script reports how many paths were found and closed. You can choose to close all paths or only selected ones. Essential for preparing artwork for laser cutting, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, or any manufacturing process that requires closed paths. Also useful for fixing imported SVG files that often have unintentionally open paths.

How to Install

Method 1 — Run directly

  1. Download the .jsx file
  2. Open Illustrator
  3. Go to File > Scripts > Other Script...
  4. Select the downloaded .jsx file
  5. The script runs immediately

Method 2 — Install permanently

  1. Copy the .jsx file to the Scripts folder:
  2. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version]\Presets\en_US\Scripts\
  3. Restart Illustrator
  4. Find the script under File > Scripts > Close All Open Paths
